Embracing the Cross
As Christians, we are reminded that the dark night, the cross, has meaning only in the light of the resurrection. It is through the cross that God shows us his unconditional love and invites us to live a life of fullness. By making God the center of our lives, we see life with new eyes. We become more respectful and compassionate towards our relatives and neighbors, accepting reality not as a burden but as an opportunity to collaborate with God in creating a new society.
Facing Suffering
However, as humans, we often try to avoid the cross and the suffering that comes with it. We try to take detours and deviate from those who are suffering right before our eyes. Yet, it is precisely in these circumstances that we learn to be patient, compassionate, and listen to the voice of God from the silence and solitude of our homes.
Finding Support in Mary
During this dark night, we can find solace and support in Mary, our Mother. Like Mary, we too can learn to bear the cross of pain and be at the side of those who are suffering. Mary was always the support the disciples needed, keeping the lamp of her faith burning even in the darkest moments. She is a reminder to us that, even in times of pain and suffering, we are not alone, and God is always with us.
Celebrating the Lord’s Passion
As we celebrate the Lord’s Passion during this Holy Week, let us rekindle in ourselves compassion and solidarity. Let us manifest to those around us the love, care, and attention that Jesus taught us throughout his life. Let us not lose sight of the meaning of the cross and the dark night, for without them, our lives would be filled with fear, anguish, and despair.
Finding Hope
In conclusion, let us embrace this dark night as an opportunity to draw closer to God, to reflect on our pain, and to support one another. Let us remember that, like the wise women who welcomed the Lord into their homes, we too can be a source of light and hope in the midst of darkness. May we all have a peaceful Holy Week.
