With an atmosphere of joy and celebration, with the jubilee year very much present within us, we started our Assembly in Saint Daniel Comboni Center in Namugongo. It took place in the month of July with more than 90% of the sisters of the Province present. 43 Sisters altogether and 10 Novices, from 3 different continents, celebrating this unique and particular Assembly, inviting us to be “Missionary disciples in the existential peripheries”.
We started with a beautiful morning spent in prayer, going back through the journey we have been doing during these last two years of preparation for the G.C. This prayer really helped us to enter into the event with a special disposition and created among us a spirit of joy and togetherness members of the same big family that is our province.
With many expectations, lot of hope on our future, we opened our minds and hearts to the presentation of the Ministeriality and Charism: we shared the present reality of Uganda Province. It helped us to realize the panorama of the Province: The charism is living, is vibrating. Our ministeriality is based on one hundred years of missionary history made of love and great passion for our charism lived by an innumerable number of sisters who came before us. We really stand on their shoulders!

As we listened and participate to the presentation of the different proposals for a possible unification of provinces, we set ourselves on the reality of the whole congregation, and “open the window of our global reality”, which is full of new insights and very challenging. It helped us to look ahead with renewed enthusiasm and hope, not as single individuals but as precious members of a unique body. From nowhere, it came like a small spark to call again, our lovely province: “Mamma Uganda”. Feeling that the process of the unification is no longer a desire, a faraway dream, but a close reality, it charged us with a new and great responsibility vibrating in the same syntony: writing our own future as a Congregation is up to each one of us!
Finally, we closed this beautiful journey as we had started: with prayer. In the small gesture of sowing the seed, as a prophetical sign, we accept that in order to bring new life, we must transform ourselves and finally die, to produce the novelty of new abundant fruits yet to come….but the voice of the Father resounded in us and once more reassured us : “I die but my work will not die”.
